Cummins Indy Project Wins AIANY Design Award
March 13, 2017
We’re honored to announce that our recently completed Cummins Indy Distribution Headquarters has received a 2017 Design Award from the AIA’s New York Chapter. The project was one of over 370 projects submitted for consideration. The building activates a key streetscape in downtown Indianapolis with its narrow, sculpted form that provides abundant views and generous natural light for employees within. The finely calibrated façade of clear and opaque glass, with vertical and horizontal shading, reduces energy loads and glare; the new park provides an urban green space for the public.
To complete design and construction of this innovative, expansive project in the remarkably short time of only 28 months, we called on the talent and expertise of partners Deborah Berke and Marc Leff, who led the project; Principal Arthi Krishnamoorthy served as project manager; Principals Noah Biklen and Ameet Hiremath respectively designed the exterior and interior architecture; and Senior Principal Stephen Brockman focused on the interior design. The fantastic team of collaborating firms includes Architect of Record RATIO Architects and Landscape Architect DAVID RUBIN Land Collective.
We were lucky to have found in Cummins an exceptional client who is committed to architectural design, as well as the civic life of downtown Indianapolis.
