West 76th Street Townhouse New York, NY

We renovated this wide Upper West Side brownstone and returned it to its original use as a single-family house. We organized the house around a new dramatic elliptical stair that emphasizes the vertical flow of space through the full six stories of the building, including the studio/gym space we added on the roof. Dark floors and a variety of wall treatments and colors speak to the varied activities of the family over the expanse of the house. We set the rear-yard wing back to create terraces at different levels: off the kitchen and master bedroom.

The project involved a full gut interior renovation, new windows and exterior envelope work, a penthouse addition, and new landscape installations in the front and back yards, and on the terraces.
