Deborah Pens a Letter to a Young Architect for The Architectural Review
October 1, 2020
Deborah Berke was asked to submit a letter to an unnamed young architect by The Architecture Review. “From where I sit today, I think it is more important to listen than to speak. Particularly in the United States, the past year has been perhaps the most convulsive of any since the late 1960s. And, as in that period, the young have shown the existing system – and the structures that support it – has failed to respond to the crises of the moment. In fact, the system has perpetuated inequality, oppression, division and environmental degradation, especially for Black, Indigenous and communities of color.” Read the full letter here.
