University of Virginia Hotel and Conference Center

Charlottesville, VA
220,000 square feet
In Progress
Type: Academic / Hotels
The new Hotel and Conference Center at the University of Virginia will anchor the Emmet/Ivy Corridor and act as a bridge between North Grounds and Central Grounds. Like the relationship of Jefferson’s Academical Village to the lawn, the Hotel and Conference Center will be set in the high-performance landscape of the Corridor, creating educational opportunities where UVA’s holistic approach to stormwater collection is reinforced by the natural hydrology/watershed of the area.

The 220,000 square foot project will include 225 guestrooms, conference facilities, and a visitors center. A contemporary interpretation of Jeffersonian thinking, the new Hotel and Conference Center will also serve the campus community—including students, faculty, and staff—as well as visitors and Charlottesville residents, creating a new place to stay amid the vibrant exchange of ideas.
